What is A+ World Academy
A+ World Academy is an international boarding high school and gap year program that sails to 20 cities in 14 countries. Students will follow a rigorous academic program where they can take advanced placement (AP) level courses. Students will also learn real-life skills as they are exposed to real-life political, social and environmental choices
Students will learn the true meaning of responsibility, respect, trust, and partnership as they engage in ship cleaning, maintenance, sail maneuvering, and safety rounds. They will take part in watches and daily duties onboard and develop life skills such as time management, work ethic, community-mindedness, and teamwork. The goal is to be more than a trip. It is meant to be an entire learning experience that students can truly enjoy.
During these 10 months, the Norwegian Sorlandet will be sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and stopping at 20 cities in Norway, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, Barbados, Jamaica, Portugal, and the Netherlands. Students will be engaged in culturally and historically relevant aspects of the city through excursions and field experiences. Students will also be given free time (shore leave) to explore each city and discover different people, places, and cultures all while completing a year of high school.
